Terms of Service

Service: Seoulstart (seoulstart.com) · Operator: Epic Ventures (에픽벤처스) · 사업자등록번호 771-24-00812

Effective date: 2026-05-05 · Version 1.0

1. Purpose

These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) govern your use of Seoulstart (seoulstart.com, the “Service”), which is operated by Epic Ventures (에픽벤처스, business registration number 771-24-00812, “we” or “the Operator”). By accessing or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

Where there is any inconsistency between this English version and the Korean version, the Korean version controls.

2. Definitions

  • Service. The Seoulstart website and the tools available on it, including written guides, neighborhood profiles, the CV Tailor, and any other features we may add.
  • User. Anyone who accesses or uses the Service. The Service does not currently require an account.
  • Content. Text, images, code, and other materials we publish on the Service.
  • User Submission. Information you provide to the Service, such as the CV file you upload to the CV Tailor or your email address when you subscribe to a newsletter.

3. Effect and changes to these Terms

These Terms take effect when published on the Service. We may update them as the Service or applicable law changes. We will post any update on this page at least 7 days before the change takes effect (30 days for changes that are unfavourable to users), and the “Effective date” at the top will reflect the current version. Continued use of the Service after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

4. Description of the Service

Seoulstart provides written guides, neighborhood profiles, a healthcare directory, and tools (including the CV Tailor) to help foreign residents in Korea handle practical questions about visas, housing, healthcare, taxes, work, and daily life.

The Service is currently free to use. Some features rely on third-party processors as described in our Privacy Policy.

5. Informational nature of guides

Guides on the Service are written for general information based on Korean law, official government sources, and our editorial judgement at the time of writing. They are not legal, tax, immigration, or medical advice. Korean regulations change, individual circumstances differ, and the right answer for you may depend on facts we do not know.

Before relying on any guide for an important decision (visa application, lease signing, tax filing, medical choice, employment dispute), you should consult an appropriate professional or the relevant Korean authority. We make a reasonable effort to keep content current, but we do not guarantee that every figure, rule, or process described is up to date at the moment you read it.

6. CV Tailor and AI-generated outputs

The CV Tailor uses artificial intelligence to analyse your CV against a job description and produce a tailored version. The output is generated by AI for reference only.

  • We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, originality, or fitness of the output for any particular employer or application.
  • You are responsible for reviewing the output, checking factual statements about your own experience, and editing the result before sending it to any employer.
  • The CV Tailor is not a recruitment service, a hiring decision, or a guarantee of any employment outcome.
  • You retain ownership of the CV you upload and the tailored CV we generate for you.

By uploading a CV, you confirm that the CV contains your own information (or information you are authorised to submit) and that uploading it does not violate any third-party right.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Scrape, crawl, or harvest content from the Service in ways that exceed normal browser-based use, except where we explicitly allow it (e.g., search-engine crawlers obeying robots.txt).
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to bypass any security or rate-limiting measure.
  • Submit content that is unlawful, infringing, defamatory, or that contains malware.
  • Use the Service to harass, defraud, or impersonate another person.
  • Resell, redistribute, or commercially exploit Service content (including translated guides) without our prior written consent.

We may rate-limit, block, or terminate access from any source that violates these Terms.

8. Intellectual property

All Service content (guides, page text, images, design, code) is owned by the Operator or our licensors and is protected by Korean and international copyright and trademark law. You may read, share individual guide URLs, and quote short excerpts with attribution. All other use of Service content requires our prior written consent.

You retain all rights to your User Submissions. By submitting a CV or answers to the CV Tailor, you grant us a limited licence to process them for the sole purpose of producing your tailored CV and operating the Service, on the terms described in our Privacy Policy.

9. Privacy

How we collect and process personal information is described in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

10. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by Korean law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and uninterrupted availability.

We do not warrant that the Service will be free of errors, that outputs from the CV Tailor will achieve any particular result, or that information in our guides will be free of inaccuracies.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by Korean law, the Operator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or business interruption, arising from or related to your use of the Service.

Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for damages caused by our wilful misconduct or gross negligence, or for any other liability that cannot be limited under Korean law.

Where the Service is provided free of charge, our liability is limited accordingly under Article 7 of the Act on the Regulation of Terms and Conditions (약관규제법) and other applicable Korean law.

12. Service changes and termination

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue all or part of the Service at any time, including features, tools, or content. Where a change materially affects the way you use the Service, we will give advance notice on the Service or by email to subscribers of the affected feature.

13. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be brought before the Seoul Central District Court (서울중앙지방법원) as the court of exclusive jurisdiction in the first instance, unless the Korean Code of Civil Procedure or other applicable consumer-protection statute requires a different court for an individual user.
